The Four Recipes
17 May 2010

he key to having a wonderful relationship and family life, as recently shared by a famous Indonesian holistic healer, are very simple things which ironically are often overlooked in today's modern society.

Firstly, it is the continuous undivided attention. In many households in metropolitan cities, every day is usually filled with normal busy schedules and almost endless streams of information hitting the minds. Hence the simple act of giving proper attention alone is often quite a challenge.

Secondly, it is one's ability to give as well as receive love and compassion. When one is in extreme imbalance in just one side, suffering is sure to occur. e.g. when one gives all the time without receiving, then the relationship is doomed. The same applies to the reverse.

Thirdly, it is the ability to listen wholeheartedly. In daily life there are often times when we wish to convey several points across to other people but end up censoring many parts of the message. These end up in our memory as junk which continues to build up and makes one yearn to talk them out to friends in order to feel short-term relief.

In relation to the above, last but not least, we need total complete honesty. Complete and directly understandable honest confessions, while at times may bring out troubles, actually can save one from accumulating many small hidden problems which one day will result in nuclear explosions.

Financial Education (24 June 2009)

In addition, I observed that as one makes progress from one wealth level to the next, he or she generally comes across new skills, knowledge, or perceptions that are simply unforeseen at the previous stages. The newfound knowledge may or may not be directly related to the wealth creation process itself, but nonetheless is still valuable as a stepping stone to the next stage.

Wealth is an abundance of valuable material possessions or resources. The word is derived from the old English wela, which is from an Indo-European word stem. An individual, community, region or country that has an abundance of such possessions or resources is called wealth.

Monster Parents (05 May 2009)

The role of parents is to guide them to find their true choice and help them reach there, as opposed to dictating their own set of ideals and goals or impose their own will forcefully onto the children. If the children are guided towards their true destiny in life, they can then find their own happiness and the role of parents is fulfilled on that aspect.

That way, prisons are turned into rehabilitation centers. This idea, quite wild as it sounds, is actually not exactly revolutionary. Hence, there is no reason not to re-configure the compensation of the staff handling these inmates in a similar manner.
